The birth of the Life Plan Community.
The 1960s were a time of social unrest but also a time of great social change. One of those changes included the idea that our golden years shouldn’t include worrying about the need for future health care.
And so the Life Plan Community (also known as a Continuing Care Retirement Community or CCRC) was born. The idea was simple: one campus offering everything a person needed to enjoy a stimulating, secure retirement—including access to a complete healthcare infrastructure, just in case.
And, thus, Meadow Lakes was born. In 1965, we became the first Life Plan Community in New Jersey, and one of the first in the United States. We chose the site in East Windsor because we fell in love with its stately trees and serene lakes. Today, those same grounds are an accredited arboretum.
As part of the Springpoint family, Meadow Lakes has become a model for everything senior living can be. One visit to our glorious campus, and we think you’ll see why.
