Why Choose Meadow Lakes for Independent Senior Living?

A woman leads a group exercise class in a pool.

Why do people choose Meadow Lakes? Simply because they want more out of life. More opportunities to socialize. More ways to keep fit and healthy. More time to focus on their interests and passions. And more of a connection to the natural world.

You’ll find all of these elements at Meadow Lakes, which is part of the Springpoint family of senior living communities. Providing care and trust that comes from exceeding expectations and setting new standards since 1916.

What to Look For When Choosing a Senior Living Community?

Before choosing an independent living community, here are some important factors to evaluate when choosing an independent senior living community.

  • Location. Is the community close to family and friends? Do you like the area? Are there interesting things to do within driving distance?
  • Is the living space what you want? No matter how nice the community is, you have to feel happy and comfortable in your home.
  • Does it have the amenities you’re looking for? Imagine it almost like a resort. Does it offer the kinds of services and activities that make every day interesting? Does it offer pleasant communal and outdoor spaces?
  • Are you happy with the healthcare offered? Is a seamless continuum of care offered? Can you be sure that any possible future needs will be met?
  • Is it within your budget? What kind of financing is available?

5 Reasons Meadow Lakes Is Great for Independent Living

1. Location, Location, Location

Meadow Lakes is located in East Windsor, New Jersey, less than 10 miles from Princeton University and less than an hour from the Atlantic Ocean. That puts you right in the heart of one of the most beautiful and interesting stretches of the East Coast.

2. As-You-Like-it Living Space

A unique independent living feature Meadow Lakes offers is its cottages and apartment-style living options, including 18 different floor plans.

Looking to keep it cozy? Our smallest option is The Cranbury, a cozy 350-square-foot studio. The Oak cottage is our largest, totaling 2,871 square feet, a two-car garage, two bedrooms, two baths, a full kitchen with bay window, a living room with fireplace, dining room, laundry room, walk-in closets, optional sunroom, and French doors opening to an outdoor space.  Our Montgomery floor plan boasts 1,600 square feet and an open-concept chef’s kitchen with full-size stainless steel appliances, under-cabinet lighting, quartz countertops, and soft-close maple cabinetry. The living/dining area opens onto a private patio with slate flooring and garden views.

All of these options can be upgraded to reflect your personal preferences and style, whether you like modern, contemporary, traditional, or transitional decor. That means you choose the flooring, paint colors, lighting, backsplash, and fixtures.

3. All the Amenities

At the very top of the list is the beautiful outdoor space at Meadow Lakes, which has been an accredited arboretum since 2005. Imagine more than 100 acres filled with decades-old trees, picturesque ponds, walking paths, and more. It’s an ideal space to stroll, birdwatch, or simply enjoy the many benefits of time spent in nature. Our great outdoors also offers a croquet court and swimming pool.

Inside, you’ll find a wide range of other amenities, including an art studio, a state-of-the-art fitness center with personal trainers, a heated pool, a health and wellness clinic, a library, and a performance hall.

But it’s not just the Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired buildings and natural areas that make Meadow Lakes stand out; it’s what’s offered inside of them. Our award-winning LivWell program works to integrate the seven dimensions of wellness into everything we do. That begins with a deep understanding of individual physical, intellectual, emotional, social, environmental, spiritual, and vocational needs. Practically speaking, that looks like aquatics classes, sports clubs and tournaments, an environmental appreciation group, yoga and tai chi, resident scholar lectures, local volunteer opportunities, guided meditation, and more.

Equally important are the unscheduled moments of delight, like chatting with a neighbor while grabbing a morning coffee at the cafe, meeting up with friends for dinner, checking out the library, and heading outside to enjoy your favorite bench on a sunny spring day.

4. High-Quality Healthcare

Designation as a Life Plan Community means that Meadow Lakes offers a full continuum of healthcare, should it be needed, including rehabilitation, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, and respite care.

Additionally, our on-campus health and wellness clinic staffed by a medical doctor and nurse practitioner can handle everything from flu shots to X-rays. Visiting specialists from the local area include a cardiologist, orthopedist, dentist, podiatrist, and optometrist.

5. Staying in Budget
