At Meadow Lakes, we encourage an active lifestyle filled with things you love to do. Along with engaging programming and amenities in our community, we’ve become experts at recommendations of activities to do in the surrounding area of East Windsor, New Jersey. Whether you’re looking to learn more about history or relax in the great outdoors, there’s something for everyone in the area. Keep reading for a few of our favorite recommendations.
Mercer County Park: Located on over 2,500 acres, Mercer County Park is your go-to area for all things outdoor recreation. From scenic walking trails to spacious dog parks for your pups to run and comfortable picnic areas, there’s something for everyone in this park system. Be sure to also check out the calendar of events for fun activities for the whole family.
Wineries: There’s nothing quite like enjoying a glass of wine right at the winery, while socializing with friends and family. Working Dog Winery is a pet-friendly venue known for its award-winning white wines. Plus, you’re able to listen to live music every Saturday and often grab a bite to eat from visiting food trucks. Or, head to Cream Ridge Winery for a tasting of their hand-crafted small-batch wines.
Princeton University: Going strong since 1746, Princeton University is an incredible historical experience you won’t want to miss. Princeton University Tours highlight the storied past of the prestigious university that is the heart of the area. Or, spend time in the Princeton University Art Museum, one of the world’s greatest comprehensive museums in an academic setting.
12 Farms Restaurant: The farm to table experience is trending in the restaurant scene, and 12 Farms Restaurant prepares each meal deliciously. With a rotating menu based on what’s in season, their mission is to secure the best, freshest, local ingredients. Although you can’t go wrong with your choice of what to eat, we’ve been loving the braised chicken tortellini en brodo. Brunch is especially popular – make sure to make a reservation to secure those complimentary scones.
Historical Landmarks: The area is rich with historical landmarks. Explore history in Mercer County by visiting locations like Princeton Battlefield, where American and British troops fought The Battle of Princeton in 1777, or Washington Crossing State Park, where George Washington crossed the Delaware during the American Revolution. The Hightstown-East Windsor Historical Society is also close by, where you can become a member to enjoy a variety of events and activities.
When you live at Meadow Lakes, you’re surrounded by beauty complemented by a host of engaging activities. With both an indoor and outdoor pool, an art and stained-glass studio, delicious dining and so much more, there’s always something to do in the community. And, if you’re looking to explore the area or take a day trip to show off the city and area attractions to visiting family members, transportation is available to get you where you want to go.
